I listened to this on Audible thanks to @loganslibraryy and this did not disappoint! Gigi is a single mom from Washington and inherits a farmhouse in Montana. She leaves the big city and now enters her small-town era. As she tries to get accustomed to her new life, she meets the sheriff of the town: Jess. Gigi immediately hates him. He’s a jerk who thinks he knows it all. Jess is not too fond of Gigi either. He loves the farmhouse and is surprised to find out that she will be living in it. With it being a small town, they continually run into each other and constantly bicker, but start to grow a liking in one another.
I really enjoyed this. I felt like the beginning was a little slow, but as I got deeper into the story, I could not stop listening! I fell in love with this little town. I think Devney Perry did a great job creating this town. I felt like I was apart of it! I know the local shops, the people who live there, and everyone’s little quirks. I felt like I was apart of this group that was starting to develop.
I actually really enjoyed the development between Gigi and Jess. They continually crossed paths due to their careers: Jess was the town sheriff and Gigi was a nurse. As they pushed each other’s buttons, they also found their way to one another’s heart. I think one thing I particularly enjoyed was the relationship Jess had with Gigi’s daughter, Rowan. He really cared for her and treated her as if she was his own. But the thing that had me completely hooked: THE SUSPENSE. I loved the small town romance aspect, but the small town romantic suspense?! AMAZING! This really drew me into the story because I was not expecting it and I was itching to find out the truth.
Overall, this was such a fun read! I recommend if you like:
– small town romance
– mystery/suspense
– great friend group
– single mom
This definitely set a high bar for the rest of the series!
