The Outpost (Jamison Valley #4) by Devney Perry

With the events that took place on The Lucky Heart, I was SO excited to start reading The Outpost. Sabrina had to go into hiding because she is running from the mob and Beau helps isolate her in a mountain cabin. 

Right away I became very fond of Sabrina. She is a very successful, career driven journalist. She put 110% into her career that she literally risked her life for a story. I was so intrigued with her once I learned that she paid a random boy to drive her all the way to Felicity’s to get help. 

Beau was always the quiet and mysterious one in the group. I never really had much of an opinion on him while reading the first three books, but I was interested in getting to know him a little bit more in this book. He has the cutest dog and lives a very simple life. I was curious to see how well he would mesh with Sabrina as they have lived very opposite lives. 

I love the forced proximity trope. I think it gets the characters to really get to know one another on a more deep and intimate level. I think we see that here with Sabrina and Beau. They really got to know each one’s true self and they fell in love. I thought reading this was so special and I really felt their love off the page. She opened his eyes to something more exciting and he helped her accept things that she couldn’t before. 

One thing that really made me love this book was the romantic suspense aspect. I was so interested in finding out what would happen between Sabrina and the mob. I was on the edge of my seat! I felt like the pacing of the book was great and I love how protective Beau was of Sabrina over the entire situation. He really grew to love her and I think their relationship was so pure. Be prepared to fall in love with Beau and Sabrina because Devney Perry is the queen of small town romance.
