“Girl’s high-school boyfriend becomes a drug addict. Girl falls for boyfriend’s best friend. Girl leaves them both behind only to return home years later for murdered ex-boyfriend’s funeral. Now she’s back home in Montana, ready to start fresh.”
If that does not make you want to read this, I don’t know what will. Felicity does not have the best reputation. She was known as the stereotypical mean girl in high school. She left her home with a lot of hindered relationships, more specifically her relationship with Silas. Silas is her ex-boyfriend’s best friend and runs The Lucky Heart ranch. He is friends with Jess, Felicity’s brother, and Nick. They’re connected in that friend group, so we see the couples from book 1 and 2.
This book follows up on some of the events that took place in book 1. We are able to dive deeper into that mystery and get different perspective on things. I really enjoyed this plot line from book 1, so getting it in both different perspectives as well as different timelines was so interesting. Both Felicity and Silas have a different take on certain events. You can tell Silas has always been in love with Felicity and she has always deemed herself as not worthy. I really enjoyed reading about their second chance relationship and seeing the growth between the two. Felicity is a strong and feisty female and Silas is a sweet and quiet cowboy. I felt like their buildup of their relationship of the book was well paced as their history was really rocky.
I think overall, It was just missing a little something for me. Unlike the other books, the suspense aspect was not there. I think that was one thing I was surprisingly looking forward to. I was just not as sucked into the story as I was the previous books, but I think this set up the next book WONDERFULLY and I was so excited to dive into the next book right away!
